Did you know it's quite possible to make home made beauty products?
When you create homemade makeup, you can experiment with the perfect shades to suit your complexion as well as be assured that you're not using harsh or drying chemicals on your skin.
There are several beauty suppliers who will supply you with color bases for most homemade makeup recipes, but you'll know the rest of the ingredients are all natural.
Home Made Beauty Products - Mineral Powder Foundation
This homemade beauty product recipe makes a powder foundation that will give you a lovely shimmery tan look. If you prefer a matte finish to your powder, then omit the Arizona sandstone mica and you'll create a lovely matte powder.
Ingredients
- 1/3 teaspoon titanium dioxide
- 1/3 teaspoon boron nitride
- 1/3 teaspoon zinc oxide
- 1 teaspoon facial silk
- 3 teaspoons white matte mica
- 1/4 teaspoon chamomile matte mica
- Red oxide
- Cobalt blue mica
- 1 teaspoon Arizona sandstone mica
- Brown oxide
In a small pot, add the ingredients one at a time. Be sure you use a white bowl or pot so you can see the colors clearly.
Using a small spatula or skewer, blend each new ingredient you add into the mixture thoroughly. The amounts of oxide color ingredients you will need are very small, so add a few grains of each of the color oxides and mix together well to see what color you've created. When you've reached a shade that suits your own skin tone, mix everything together well once more and store in an air tight container.
Home Made Beauty Products - Pink Blush (Rouge)
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons pink mica
- 2 tablespoons white matte mica
- 1/4 teaspoon yellow oxide
- 1/2 teaspoon titanium dioxide
- 1/2 teaspoon zinc oxide
- 1/2 teaspoon boron nitride
- 1 teaspoon facial silk
- Red Oxide

Home Made Beauty Products - Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
Ingredients
- 4 oz olive oil
- 3 oz cocoa butter
- 1 oz beeswax
- 1/2 vitamin E capsule
In a double boiler, melt the beeswax, cocoa butter and olive oil. Stir the ingredients to be sure they blend together properly. When the ingredients are melted, remove the mixture from the heat and add 1/2 a vitamin E capsule. Stir well and then pour the lip balm into lip balm pots or containers. Allow the balm to cool completely before sealing or closing the container with a lid.
Apply to your lips to stop them cracking or drying out and you'll have luscious lips.
Home Made Beauty Products - Lip Color
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon beeswax
- 1/2 teaspoon carnauba wax
- 2 tablespoons Oxide lip color oil blend
- 3 drops peppermint oil
In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl (try not to use aluminium), melt the waxes together over a low heat. Stir to assist the melting process. Add a small amount of the lip color oil and test the color. If the color of the lip color oil blend you've chosen is too light, add more until you reach the color you desire.
Remove mixture from the heat and add the peppermint oil. Pour your homemade lip color into a lip balm pot and allow it to cool completely before sealing with the cap. Store your lip color in a cool, dry place.
Home Made Beauty Products - Lip Gloss
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup beeswax
- 1/4 cup castor oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- Beet juice
- 1 teaspoon powdered juice mix
In a double boiler, melt the beeswax. When it's completely melted, remove it from the heat and add the oils and juice powder. Add only enough beet juice to color the gloss to the shade you desire. Homemade Makeup Remover
Finding a good makeup remover that not only removes all your makeup, but also won't leave your pores clogged is important. Residue from makeup and powder can clog your pores and dry out your skin, speeding up the process of creating wrinkles. Use some of this homemade makeup remover to keep your skin clear and clean.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon castor oil
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon canola oil
Mix the oils together in a small container. Apply them to your face with a cotton ball to remove traces of makeup from your eyes and face. Wash any leftover oil off your face with water.
Homemade Makeup Remover 2
Ingredients
Peel the cucumber and mash the insides to a pulp. Place the pulp into a small saucepan. Add 1/2 cup of milk and slowly heat up the mixture over a low heat. Remember to stir occasionally. When the mixture begins to simmer, remove from the heat immediately.
Soak a cotton ball into the mixture and wipe it over your eyes and skin to remove make up. Wash any residue off with water. Store any unused portions in the fridge.
