Most of us are struggling with the rising cost of living, so getting skincare we can afford is more important than ever. But skincare doesn’t have to be expensive to be good for you. Let’s be honest here; often, you are paying for the brand, not quality ingredients!

First, you’ll have to figure out what you need. Your age and lifestyle define your skin’s particular situation and requirements. Then, you can try to match that with the right product.

To that end, if you need products that work without breaking the budget. Here’s my list of skincare products that can be very effective yet don’t force us to borrow more money.

Highly Concentrated Ingredients

When picking an affordable skincare product, pay attention to ingredients. Many expensive products don’t offer the best, highly concentrated ingredients.

When I look for a lotion or cream, I’m searching for one with the most effective active ingredients. It must have vitamin C, retinoids (a derivative of vitamin A), and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients need to be front and center regardless of the price.

This is one of the main reasons I make my own bath and beauty products. I can control the ingredients in my recipes and get a top-quality, natural product without the high price tag.

Budget Toners

Toners are a must for your regimen. You don’t need the most expensive toner to get your face prepared for hydration. Because you use lots of toner every day, you can pick budget options.

Some good choices include toners by Pixi and Simple. These toners are soothing without breaking the bank. You can use them with cleansing wipes to get rid of dead skin cells.

You can make a toner by simply combining hydrosols. Take a look at my two-ingredient toner for several combinations.

Subscription Box Products

A subscription box like Birchbox gives you a customizable box of premium skincare and beauty products. With a low monthly cost, you can select products that work for your needs.

These products go beyond skincare. They include other necessities like shampoo, soap, and conditioners to address all your body’s needs. Most products included are sample-sized. However, at least one is full-sized.

Low-Priced Cleansers

You probably go through cleansers fast. As with toners, you don’t need the most expensive cleanser for your face. Still, you should check if cleansers are suitable for sensitive skin.

Just pick the best cleanser that works for you. Perhaps go for a two-in-one cleanser and exfoliator to speed up your beauty routine. You know when the price is right!

If you need an affordable cleanser that does its job, try Bliss cleansers. Or go the DIY route and mix a couple of hydrosols to make a simple micella water.

The Ordinary Products

A must-have skincare product is a serum. If you are not making your own, these skin nourishers can be very expensive. The Ordinary offers you effective serums at a fraction of the price of other brands.

These products include strong active ingredients like vitamin C, retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs. The serums, toners, and peeling solutions only use the best ingredients, which may surprise you, given the price tag. You won’t be disappointed — I know I’m not!

CeraVe Hydrating Creams

Dry skin is in its own category. Many products for dry skin are expensive and don’t deliver the hydration you crave. CeraVe works great for dehydrated skin. In addition, these creams help people with acne-prone and oily skin.

The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream uses hyaluronic acid and ceramides. The price is unbeatable. It works great for dry hands. However, it’s not greasy.

Burt’s Bees Natural Ingredients

Burt’s Bees is great if you care about natural ingredients. Its best-known product is its lip balm, and I’d be lying if I said I don’t have three of these around to keep my lips in good shape. I’ve also made my own using one of these lip balm recipes.

The brand’s natural ingredients infuse its cleansers and creams. It also offers an intensive lip treatment at an inexpensive price. Other natural ingredients include aloe, coconut oil, and shea and cocoa butter.

Acure Essential Oils

Acure products contain many essential oils. Some people may find these irritating on their skin. They are hard to beat for the price. Acure doesn’t use parabens and mineral oil.

Some people with sensitive skin thrive with its products — like the Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream. If you have dry or sensitive skin, give these products a go and see what you think. They’re also great for dull and mature skin.

Aveeno Moisturizers

Aveeno moisturizers work great for skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. The product line doesn’t include serums or oils. However, you have other options for these on this list.

Aveeno uses oats as the main ingredient in its lotions, creams, and scrubs. It works to alleviate redness, itching, and dry skin. I prefer Aveeno body washes and lotions during wintertime. It reduces my skin concerns at the right time.

Olay for Aging Skin

Your skin has different needs as it ages. Olay has been in business for a long time and perfectly understands the needs of your mature skin. Besides, Olay products are inexpensive and easy to find.

Olay sells serums, hydrating moisturizers, and night creams. The products slow down aging and give your skin a healthy glow. Try them for size next time you’re at the store!

The Seaweed Bath Co. Body Cream

Body creams are great for replenishing moisture all over your body. This affordable option contains shea butter and argan oil. It’s suitable for those with eczema and psoriasis.

Some users also report that the cream helps with itchy skin. Others love the smell. This body cream uses peppermint for a fresh scent. Many people love the smell as much as they love the hydration.

Garnier Super Hydrating Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are generally inexpensive, and Garnier’s is no exception. It’s perfect for thirsty skin and contains hyaluronic acid. With a delicious pomegranate scent, it’s also great for pampering.

The product claims to deliver day-long hydration. It also helps prevent moisture loss. It is one of several affordable masks by Garnier. You can pick one based on your needs — from soothing to purifying to glow-boosting. This mask helps soothe red, dehydrated skin without irritation.

Cetaphil Sensitive Skin Cleanser & Moisturizers

Cetaphil is my go-to when I get breakouts. My sensitive skin dries out quickly if I use harsh cleansers. The gentle skin cleanser has never made my skin drier or caused more breakouts.

If I follow up with the Daily Facial Moisturizer, my skin feels the right amount of hydration without being greasy or heavy. It also reduces the appearance of breakouts and makes my skin smooth.

Giveaways and Samples

One way to score affordable skincare products is to participate in giveaways or pick free samples. It’s not a way to replace expensive brands.

You can still test different products you’d otherwise not buy. What’s more, these products are free. You may find something perfect for your skin that’s worth setting money aside next time you need a skincare product.

La Roche Posay: The High End of Affordable

Our last entry is high quality yet not as affordable as other products on this list. It deserves a spot, though. The brand only uses the best ingredients. Its array of products is great regardless of your skin’s particular needs.

The Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer hydrates dry skin. It doesn’t block pores. I like to use it with the Pure Vitamin C Face Serum. The two products are pricier than the alternatives from other brands. However, they’re worth it.
