As a single mom I don't get a lot of time to spend pampering myself and my budget doesn't always allow for those little treats. I found a gorgeous recipe to make homemade bubble bath, so now I pamper myself in a lovely warm bubble bath and my daughter just loves it.
It saves me money, I get to choose what fragrance I want to use and it works so well! Here's my recipe for a basic, gentle bubble bath that is suitable for kids and adults.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups distilled water
- 1 (4oz) bar castile soap grated
- 3 oz liquid glycerin
Method
Grate a bar of Castile soap finely. Put all the ingredients into a sealable plastic bottle. Tighten the cap and shake the mixture well until the soap begins to soften and melt into the water.
Pour some of your bubble bath mixture under running water when you next take a bath for great bubbles.
If you want to add some scent to your bubble bath, be sure not to add too much essential oil. You only need a couple of drops to release a really lovely scent into the bathroom, but if you use too much you could find that some oils can irritate your skin instead of softening it.
Relaxing Bubble Bath
If you want to give your bubble bath a lovely, relaxing scent, then you can add a few drops of lavender oil to the basic recipe.
Smooth Skin Bubble Bath
I usually add a few drops of almond oil to the basic recipe make my skin silky smooth. Almond oil is almost fragrance-free, so it's perfect to add to another scented version of your bubble bath.
Healing Bubble Bath
My daughter gets eczema in spring and summer, so I add a couple of drops of patchouli oil to her bubble bath mix. It helps to reduce the inflammation of the eczema on her skin and reduce the incidence of further flares on her body.
