Homemade Optimus Prime Costume
I began this Optimus Prime costume project about a month ago after seeing a photo of someone online in an Optimus costume. I immediately took on the project and realized just how difficult it would be very early on.
The entire costume is made out of a hard hat, tights, lots and lots of cardboard hot glue and duct tape. My inspiration was the old cartoon version of the transformers so I did my best to model it as closely to the cartoon and action figures as possible.
The costume makes me about 6-7 inches taller and is extremely uncomfortable to wear or move around in. I later incorporated a vinyl tube so that i could drink because otherwise i couldn't raise my hand up to my face and mouth. the lights on top the windows also light up but they ruined the photo when i take a picture with them on. The helmet light is from a pair of light up sunglasses bought at a party store.
While the costume is uncomfortable it was awesome seeing the look on peoples faces when they first saw me. I walked out in front of some cops while they were giving a ticket and they let the guy go just so they could take photos of me. Pure craziness!
