Making a homemade candle
A Stacked Candle is a very quick and easy way of making a homemade candle; you don't need to use a mould or any dye yet it looks extremely striking when it’s placed on a dark plate or candle stand.
Here's how I made it
I used paraffin wax that comes ready mixed with stearin, which gives it that brilliant white look and ensures the candle burns for longer. A primed wick with a wick sustainer attached.
1.Melt the wax up to 180f (82c) and then pour into a baking tray or a square cake pan making it about a 1/2 inch thick.
2.Once cool but still soft, turn the wax out and cut into even squares using a ruler and craft knife.
3.With a sharp object make a hole in the centre of each square, then thread the wick though the squares, stacking one on top of the other and placing them at an angle.
So there you have it, a very simple yet effective way of making a homemade candle. Next time I'm going to try adding some glitter for an interesting finish.
