Keeping the floor clean

I really don't like cleaning the floor. I was thinking of spreading something washable (may be a sheet)on the kitchen and bathroom floor.

My plan is to remove it when there are guests (for a clean look - without the work). It should not be a slipping and falling hazard. I was thinking of spreading some jute cloth (inexpensive) and washing it every other week instead of floor cleaning.

What do people think about this idea? Any other inexpensive and machine wash fabric I can use?

How lazy can a person get?

Just mop your floor. Period! Use a non-toxic "natural" plant based cleaner if you want to avoid chemicals and just plain old mop your floors.

For Pete's sake, it takes all of 10 minutes for me to mop my 12 x 12 kitchen floor and thats only about twice a week. I can't believe anyone thinks that is too hard to do. Spread a sheet over your floor? Why? I just dont get it. Why not just spread hay on the floors and muck it out with a pitchfork twice a year? Or maybe use shredded newspsper like in the bottom of an animals cage? Then you wont have to clean your toilets, or make that long. tiring treck to the bathroom when you feel the urge either.
Geeze!

Mopping floors

You can talk your hubby into doing it. Or just mop the floor and wipe up any spills as they happen. Or have a dirty house. It's up to you.
