Homemade Wax?

by Angela
(Hampshire)

I remember someone once told me that they made their own hair removal wax....A sugar based wax of some sort. I remember something about browning sugar and then adding lemon juice, but that is all I remember.

What I realy need to understand is how much and how long it needs to cook. Does anyone have a homemade hair removal wax recipe that they could share with me?

Homemade wax sugar waxing recipe

In a saucepan mix 2 cups of sugar, 1/4 cup of water and a 1/4 cup of lemon juice.

Gently heat until it starts to bubble, then wait till it reaches about 250f before removing it from the heat.

You can either pour it into a suitable container, then store in the refrigerator until needed. It usually keeps for two or three weeks, just warm before using. Or allow the mixture to cool enough so it won?t burn your skin.

Spread the sugar wax over the skin using a blunt knife in the direction of the hair growth. Using pre cut strips of cotton (cut from an old T shirt or something) place a cotton strip and firmly press down with your fingers for a few seconds, and then pull off in the direction opposite the hair growth.
