Homemade Casserole Recipes
What is the difference between a stew and a casserole?
Homemade stews are generally cooked on a stove in a pot of some kind, while a homemade casserole would be baked in a dish inside your oven.
Sausage and Bean Casserole - Serves 4
Ingredients
- 8 Italian sausages
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
- 1 green bell pepper (deseeded and sliced)
- 8 oz (225g) canned chopped tomatoes (skinned and chopped) or 14 oz (400g) can tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons sun-dried tomato paste
- 14 oz (400g) canned cannellini beans
- Mashed potatoes or rice (to serve)
Method
- Take a fork and prick each sausage all over.
- In a large heavy frying pan heat two tablespoons of oil.
- Add the sausages to the pan and cook gently for 10 -15 mins, turning regularly. (Make sure the sausages are cooked through).
- Take the sausages out of the pan and keep them warm. Drain off the excess oil and wipe the pan with kitchen paper.
