Here's a simple recipe for making your own homemade scouring powder. Replace your commercial scouring powder with the following recipe to save some of your hard earned cash....

INGREDIENTS

Egg shells
Laundry Detergent

METHOD

Wash and dry empty eggshells.

Ground dry shells into fine powder.

Mix powder with detergent in a 2:1 ratio respectively.

Your scouring powder is ready for use.

Fill your pan with water, then add a sliced onion and one desert spoon of salt. Boil then leave to soak overnight. In the morning the residue should wash away easily.

I guess if you use one of the Savvy Homemade Laundry Detergents you would have a totally cost free scouring powder :-)

Here's another option if you already have the ingredients below.

1 cup baking soda
1 cup borax
1 cup regular salt

Mix the ingredients and store them in an airtight container. Use as you would any shop bought scouring powder.
