Natural Homemade Mouthwash

You can rustle up a homemade mouthwash in a matter of minutes by simply adding a few drops of essential oils to a few fl oz of mineral water.

Other quick and easy to make mouth washes can be made by infusing cleansing herbs such as peppermint and thyme.

 

 

Bellow you'll find all the information needed to make up a natural mouthwash that is very effective.

Tip
In an emergency; you can chew fresh parsley to freshen up your breath.

Mandarin Mouthwash

This orange tasting home made mouthwash may seem a little odd but it is very refreshing.

If you prefer a more traditional mouthwash, substitute the mandarin oil with 6 drops of tea tree and 6 drops of peppermint oil.

What you will need

  • 10 fl oz mineral water
  • 12 drops mandarin essential oil

Method

  1. Pour the water into a clean sterile bottle.


  2. Add the oil and shake.


  3. Each time you use this mouth wash you will need to give it a shake to disburse the oil.


Important Note:
Without guidance essential oils should not be taken internally, so don't swallow this home made mouthwash.

Rosemary Mouthwash

What you will need

  • 2 teaspoons dried or 4 rosemary sprigs
  • 4 cloves
  • 13 fl oz mineral water

Method

  1. Place the rosemary and water into a sauce pan and bring to the boil.


  2. Allow to simmer for 15 minutes, remove from the heat and leave to cool.


  3. Strain into a clean sterile bottle and store in the bath room ready for use.


  4. Dilute the mouth wash one to one with water as you use it.

Tip
Other cleaning and mouth freshening herbs you can use are peppermint, marjoram, sage and thyme.
