And you can be sure homemade beauty masks don't have any weird chemicals or harmful ingredients that may dry your skin or worse.
Even though these homemade facials are created from natural ingredients, you should still use them sparingly - every other day or only once a week, as needed.
You can add almost any kind of essential oil to any of these exfoliating masks and homemade face masks. Just a few drops! Even if you have oily skin, an essential oil can still be helpful and healing. Buy some Vitamin E capsules and add a few drops of Vitamin E oil to each treatment for an extra healing boost.
The best skincare recipes are made from ingredients you have available right in your kitchen, so get out a couple of glass bowls and a wooden spoon, and get mixing!

Honey Face Mask
What you will need
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, warmed slightly
- 1 tablespoon honey, warmed slightly
Method
Mix ingredients thoroughly. Apply to face and neck, wait for it to dry, then rinse off using warm (not hot) water. Pat dry - never rub.
Honey and Apricot Face Mask
The honey in these homemade beauty masks will help to heal irritated and dry skin, the almonds will leave your face feeling soft and smooth and the fruit will refine coarse skin.
What you will need
- 2 ripe apricots (or 1 ripe peach)
- 2 tablespoons runny honey
- 2 heaped tablespoons ground almonds
Method
- Take the apricots (or peach), peel them, remove the stone and mash them.
- After draining away the juices, mix the mashed fruit with honey and almonds.
- Massage the mask into clean skin, keeping away from eyes.
- Remove the mask after about 25 mins by rinsing with warm water or a lavatera/ chamomile flower infusion.
Oatmeal Face Mask
- Use a food processor, blender, or coffee grinder to make oat flour out of 1/4 cup regular oatmeal.
- Make a paste with a little warm milk, egg white, honey, or just plain water.
- Apply to skin, massaging gently for 2-5 minutes.
- Allow to dry and rinse off with cool water.
Grape Face Mask
This face mask has tonic, astringent properties and will tighten your skin as well as leaving your face feeling moisturised and nourished.
What you will need
- 1 egg white
- 1 handful seedless white grapes (or 1 large ripe pear)
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 teaspoon bran
- 18 fl oz (500ml) mineral water
- 10 drops witch hazel
Method
- Take the egg white and beat until it soft white peaks form.
- Peel the grapes (or pear) and mash them. Drain away the juices.
- Mix the egg white with the lemon juice, bran and the mashed fruit. The blend should be light and fluffy.
- Massage the mask into clean skin, keeping away from eyes.
- Pay extra attention to the nose, chin and forehead.
- Remove the mask after about 15 mins by rinsing with a mixture of the mineral water and witch hazel.
Grapefruit Face Mask
What you will need
- 1/2 large grapefruit, peeled
- 1/2 cored and unpeeled apple
- 1 egg white
- 30 seedless grapes
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Method
Combine ingredients in a blender or food processor. Apply the mask to your face and let it work for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water (not hot) and pat dry.

What you will need
- 5 - 6 ripe strawberries
- 1 handful spearmint leaves
- 1 teaspoon wheatgerm oil
- 1 teaspoon orange juice
Method
- Take the strawberries and spearmint leaves and liquidise them.
- Then add the wheatgerm oil and orange juice.
- Massage the mask into clean skin, spreading evenly.

- Put two slices of cucumber over eyelids.
- Remove the mask after about 25 mins by rinsing with warm water or a lime tree leaf infusion.
