If you're looking for a homemade drain cleaner then the following options should get the job done without to much fuss. This will help prevent or unblock your drains from grease.
Just pour 500 grams (1/2 lb) of washing soda ( soda crystals), or a 1/2 cup of borax down the drain followed by a couple of cups of hot preferably boiling water.
If you don't have any washing soda or borax then the following method will be just as affective.
Pour a 1/4 cup of baking soda down the drain in question, followed by a 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar. cover the drain and leave to rest for about 15 minutes then flush down with boiling water.
The above ingredients are all biodegradable so they are suitable for anyone with a septic tank and they won't harm the environment. I would also recommend flushing the drains with a homemade drain cleaner once per year to stop any future grease or lime scale build up.

Here's a quick homemade toilet cleaner.
Lets face it there's nothing worse than a blocked toilet or drain, so here's an easy way using house hold ingredients to get things working again.
What you will need
1 cup of salt
1 cup of baking soda
1/4 cup of cream of tartar
Combine all the ingredients and place into a sealable container or jar.
Pour a 1/4 cup of the dry mix into the toilet or drain followed by 2 cups of boiling water.
Leave for at least 30 minutes before flushing the toilet or running water through the drain. You can also use this as a homemade drain cleaner ;-)
