Homemade Door Stops

by Brenda Carpetner
(Cave City )

I love to make homemade door stops. In older homes they usually did not have door stops. I used to take a brick, pick my fabric cover it and glue it on the bottom. I used flowers, lace, small cat or dog figurines on the top. Once I got the look that I wanted I would use glue to hold them in place.

I also sold a lot of them. I would use cars, army set ups, or small sport items for the boys. And the girls loved little dolls with flowers and lace on them.

They are real simple to make and you usually have all the items needed already at home. It takes longer to decide what to put on them than it actually does to make them.

Sounds corny but I like making them and the kids loved to help with picking out their design and then they helped making their own homemade door stop.
