One of my dogs suffers from eczema, but the other has quite normal skin. I wanted to try and find a homemade dog shampoo recipe that wouldn't affect their skin and also didn't have all the chemicals that are in the store bought kinds of shampoo. I only want the best of care for my precious pooches.

I tried quite a few different recipes for homemade dog shampoo. There were examples on the internet with ingredients like dishwashing liquid or really harsh detergents, but these aren't good for my dogs. I kept trying different things before I settled on one that worked beautifully for both of my dogs. Not only did it reduce the amount of eczema on my older dog, but it left my younger dog fluffy and soft. There's a bit of antibacterial agent in the ingredients that also helps cut down on the parasites and helps heal any cuts or itching skin on your dog too.

The other good thing about this particular homemade dog shampoo is that it doesn't leave that awful wet-dog smell and my dogs both still smell lovely for several days after their bath.

Here's my homemade dog shampoo recipe

Ingredients

- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup clear liquid antibacterial soap
- Clean, empty squeeze bottle

Mix together the vinegar and liquid soap in a sealable squeeze bottle or empty shampoo bottle. Shake the mixture well to blend the ingredients together.

When it's bath time, squeeze only a little shampoo onto your dog's coat. It lathers up really well and gets right onto the skin. Work the suds into your dog's coat well and be careful not to get it in your dog's eyes or ears.

Rinse the shampoo off really well and you'll have an ultra clean dog with no lingering wet-dog smell.

I hope you and your dogs like my gentle, cleansing homemade dog shampoo.
