Homemade Dog Costumes And Homemade Pet Costumes

Home made Dog Costumes are Fun for the Entire Family

Everyone loves a great costume to celebrate the holidays, and it's especially fun to dress the family pet to partake in the festivities.

Doggie clothes are very popular and increasingly expensive when bought in the local department store, but there are some options the entire family can contribute to in order to create home made dog costumes, or any other homemade pet costumes.

Dog costumes
This strategy can save money, provide entertainment and allow your dog to be a part of all the family's celebrations. The key is to utilize materials already found throughout your home or finding very inexpensive material to make your own homemade dog costume.

If your dog is rather large, you may even be able to use old clothes and simply cut holes in pants for the tail and cut the length to fit properly. Smaller dogs may fit well into old doll clothes that the children no longer play with or have damages already.

Christmas, Halloween, Easter and even St. Patrick's Day provide wonderful opportunities to create fun homemade dog costumes. Christmas costumes may consist of a simple felt reindeer rack attached to a headband or scarf that is tied underneath the chin. Santa hats can also be crafted using extra pieces of felt or an old red shirt.

Halloween offers the most opportunity, as your costumes can be virtually anything you please. Doggie can dress as a pirate, superhero or even another animal. One of the funniest costumes for a dog is one that looks like a cat: a simple piece of headgear with kitty ears and a nose with whiskers are all that's needed.

You may also easily dress doggie as a cow, especially if he's already black and white. Everyone will roar with laughter at your home made dog costumes that include an udder made of bottle nipples and a cow bell!

Bunny ears are the perfect option for Easter celebrations. You can also add a small basket with plastic eggs around the neck if your dog is a large breed. All of these costumes are perfect for family pictures and get-togethers.

You'll want to ensure your homemade dog costumes are safe for Fido and do not irritate his skin or normal body functions. Remember to take it off when it's time to go outside, too!

Keep it as simple as possible, such as a small superhero cape or sturdy hat. If you know of great ways to make your own dog costumes, submit your own article outlining your favorite design and steps to complete it.
