Not only can you personalize your Christmas crafts so you have unique ornaments around your home that reflect your own personality, but you can also save some money by making your own instead of buying expensive store-bought ornaments.

Here are some quick and easy homemade Christmas crafts ideas you can use to add your own individuality to the festive season that won't break the budget.

Pine Cone Christmas Trees

For These Homemade Christmas Crafts You will need:

Opened pine cones
Green craft paint
Colored beads
Glitter
Craft glue
Soda bottle cap

You'll have more success with your Christmas tree project if the cone is opened. Make sure your pine cone is clean and dry. Paint your pine cone with the green craft paint. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle a little glitter over your pine cone. Then leave it aside until the paint is completely dry.

If the soda bottle cap you've chosen is plain, you could decide to paint it or decorate it a little with some ribbon or even acrylic paint and contrasting glitter sprinkles. Glue the base of the pine cone into the inside of the bottle cap. This will form a base for your Christmas tree.

You can add some decorative beads inside each section of your pine cone tree by grasping each bead with tweezers dipping it into some craft glue. Press the beads firmly into place.

Pine Cone Angel

You will need:

Pine cone
Craft paper
Ribbon
Craft glue
Soda bottle cap
Silver spray paint
Cotton wool
Glitter

You will need to find a pine cone with open petals to form the body of your angel. Paint your pine cone with silver spray paint. While the paint is still wet you can sprinkle glitter over the petals. Leave the pine cone aside until the paint is completely dry.

Paint the soda bottle cap silver. This will form your angel's base and hide the bottom of your pine cone. You can use it to stand your angel on a table if you decide not to hang your angel from the tree.

Draw some wings on your craft paper and a circle to form your angel's head. Cut them out carefully. Decorate your wings by spreading a thin layer of craft glue over the paper and then sprinkle glitter over them. Glue your wings to the back of the pine cone.

Draw a face on the circle you made from the craft paper. Dab some glue around the edges of your angel's face and pull apart some cotton wool to form hair.

Tie a length of ribbon around one of the pine cone petals to form a loop. You might want to glue the ribbon in place so it doesn't slip off once you hang your angel.

Tip: You don't need to make your angel silver. You could decide to make a gold angel or a completely white angel with gold glitter edgings. Use your imagination when it comes to decorating your crafts.

Cotton Snowman

Cosmetic cotton circles can be the ideal thing for making a cotton snowman.

Cosmetic cotton circles
Red felt
Black felt
Cotton wool
Fabric paint (black and orange)

Your cosmetic cotton circle will form your snowman's face. When you're making a hat for your snowman to wear you can be creative here. You might want a festive red Santa hat or a traditional black top hat. If you're going to make several snowmen, then perhaps you can make some of each.

To make a simple Santa hat for your snowman, you'll need to cut a triangle out of the red felt. Glue a little strip of cotton wool to the base of the hat and roll a little more cotton wool into a ball to form the pom-pom to glue on at the tip of the hat. Glue the hat onto the top of your cotton circle.

To make a simple black top hat for your snowman, cut out some black felt in the shape of a hat and glue it to the top of a cosmetic cotton circle.

Draw two black eyes and a dotted coal smiling mouth in black fabric paint on your snowman. Add a fake carrot nose using orange fabric paint.

Attach some thread to the top of the hat so you can hang your snowman to the tree.

Christmas Reindeer

A cute homemade Christmas craft is a deer made from branches and a small log for its head, and a larger one for the body. You may have seen some of these at craft stores or Amish stores.

These wooden deer are so cute that some people leave them in their yard all year, depending on the size, and others set them around the house. A simple hammer and some nails, along with a walk through the woods is all that is needed, besides buttons for the eyes and nose and a few holes drilled to insert the branches for the legs, and the twigs for the antlers.

You can get as creative as you want with these wooden deer, because each one is different, depending on the logs and branches that you find. At Christmas, many people will put a red bow around the neck and paint the nose red, of course. You may not want to do that if you intend to use it year round, though.

Christmas Log Cabin

Another one of the neat homemade Christmas crafts is a take-off from the traditional gingerbread house. You can use the larger pretzel sticks to make a log cabin. The small pretzel sticks can be used for window trimming, fences, chimneys and anything else that comes to mind.

You can use icing if you like, but some people use cheese spreads, to make edible homemade Christmas crafts, that can double as a gift or an edible centerpiece at a Christmas or New Year's party. On the more savory, log cabin version of the gingerbread house, you can use things like olive slices, nuts, celery slices, onion or anything that would be edible and compliment as a snack for decorating the log cabin, instead of the candy that is used on a gingerbread houses. Of course, a gingerbread house is always one of those homemade Christmas decorations that can be used the same way.
