Hemorrhoid Home Remedies

If you do need a bit of release from the constant aching of haemorrhoids, take a look through our hemorrhoid home remedies and relief section bellow.

Hemorrhoids (also known as piles and often misspelled as hemroids) are small swollen veins that normally appear in the lining of the rectum and /or anus.

Internal hemorrhoids develop within the rectum and tend not to be visible or even felt, In fact the only symptom you have is bleeding.

Having said that they can sometimes collapse or fall down in to the anus, which can be quite painful so it's good to know there are some very good hemorrhoid home remedies around to help.

Home Remedies

External hemorrhoids develop in the anus and unlike the internal ones; these are very uncomfortable and painful.

External hemorrhoids can also collapse and extend beyond the anus which can often develop into a blood clot. Although this may look serious, and feel quite painful it should disappear on its own in a week or so.

Possible Causes of Hemorrhoids

  • Constipation, straining when passing motions can often put pressure on the veins within the rectum and anus.
  • Pregnancy and childbirth can sometimes produce hemorrhoids
  • People who spend long lengths of time sitting or standing are much more likely to develop hemorrhiods

Hemorrhoids Prevention

  • Increasing your intake of fibre, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, and try to add more pulses, wholemeal bread, pasta and brown rice in to your diet.
  • Drink plenty of water (8 glasses a day)
  • If your hemorrhiods are due to constipation, excursing for half an hour twice a week will help with this.

Home Remedies For Hemorrhiod Relief

These hemorrhoid home remedies are all made with natural ingredients, are very easy to makeup and are extremely soothing and gentle when used:

Aromatherapy

  1. Mix 2 drops each of cypress, juniper, peppermint and chamomile essential oil with about 6 teaspoons full of either almond, olive or soya oil, and apply it to the affected area.

  2. You can make enough to last a week, but store it in a glass bottle and keep it in a dark place.

  3. Alternatively add 3 drops of each straight into a warm bath.

  4. Note don't use the juniper oil if pregnant.

Constipationion can irritate hemmorrhorids so try this simple massage to relive constipation.

Mix together three drops each of rosemary and marjoram essential oils with two drops of chamomile; add the mixture to six teaspoons (30ml) almond oil.

Softly work the oil in around the belly button in a clockwise direction.
