Cranky the Crane

My husband Arsenio created these two costumes for himself and our son, Egon, to wear for Halloween. Egon’s a big Thomas fan, so these two grumpy characters were natural choices for costumes.

We both had an awesome time making them – he sculpted them from scratch using cardboard – even a working crane arm and ‘Pinchy’ the claw for Diesel 10, and I helped paint and drew their faces.

We had so much fun on Halloween at the parade in our poor, hurricane-swept Brooklyn neighborhood!

It’s amazing what you can make from a bit of cardboard and a good imagination Emma, these Thomas the Tank and Diesel 10 costumes are wonderful and I’m pleased you all had so much fun making them. I’m also delighted to hear you still managed to have a Halloween parade after hurricane Sandy!

I bet Arsenio and your son Egon were a great hit in the parade dressed in their homemade Thomas and Diesel costumes, it must have put a smile back on many people’s faces including my own.

Neat costumes Arsenio and thanks for the great photos of yourself and Egon.
