I'm interested in giving the homemade body wraps as holiday gifts this year. What is longevity of the wraps?

Homemade Body Wrap Gifts
by: Angela

Hi Hattie,
Thanks for your question on homemade body wraps!

Firstly, any wrap containing a powdery substance such as clay, fullers earth or dried seaweed will start to dry after about 2 hours of mixing, so it needs to be used within a couple of hours.

Wraps containing fruits or kitchen cupboard ingredients should be treated in the same way as you would treat them if you were going to eat them, if it's fresh enough to eat it's suitable to put on the body.

The herbal tea wraps will keep for a couple of days in the refrigerator but you may have to heat them a little before using.

You may be interested in making a body pack which can be prepared and then mixed just before using this would give it 6 month shelve life.

Here's How
Dilute 15 drops of essential oil (singular or mixed) in 12 teaspoons of a carrier oil of your choice, add a vitamin E capsule and store in a glass bottle or jar.

Fill another jar with one of the following kaolin clay, fuller's earth or fine oatmeal.

To mix; take 2 teaspoons of the oil mix and add enough powdery ingredients to make a paste. Cover the parts of the body you want to treat, leave for 20 minutes then rinse off.

Carrier oils to use
Wheat germ - scars
Sesame - stretch marks
Apricot kernel or evening primrose ? wrinkles
Safflower or sunflower - oily skin
Sweet almond - normal, itchy, sensitive skin
Peanut - dry skin
Olive oil - rough skin

Best Essential oils to use

Therapeutic oils
Bergamot - oily skin

Cypress - cellulite
Frankincense - stretch marks
Lavender - sensitive skin

Best of luck
Angela
